Touch-A-Truck at Theisen’s of Sparta
Join us for the 4th annual Touch-A-Truck at Theisen’s of Sparta!
Sunday September 8th 11am to 2pm
Rush hour towing will be bringing their tow trucks, Gunderson plans on landing their Helicopter at 11:30 and the Sparta city PD and Monroe County PD will be doing a demonstration on how the K9s work. The Wisconsin DNR will bring a large truck and Smokey the Bear. Too many to list! It’s free so bring the whole family!
International Talk Like a Pirate Day
5:30 p.m. @ McIntosh Memorial Library
A language learning class will be offered on September 19 at 5:30pm that will teach participants how to learn the language of a pirate. The class will be administered by library staff using resources from Mango Languages. Those interested in dressing up like a pirate are welcome to do so. Registration for the class is requested as space is limited. Sign up by stopping by the library or calling 637-7151.
International Talk Like a Pirate Day is a holiday created in 1995 by John Baur and Mark Summers who proclaimed September 19 each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate.

Fermented Veggies 101

Instructor: Laura Poe Mathes
Description: Incorporating more fermented foods into our diets can help with digestive ailments, improved immune function and more. In this class, you will learn about the nutritional benefits of fermented vegetables and Laura will demonstrate three basic techniques for fermenting vegetables: sauerkraut, kim chi and brined vegetables. Participants will get to try several fermented vegetables and will take home the recipes and a grocery list for making these foods at home.
